BRRR!
IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THIS COLD IN SOUTH GA!

Tifton is starting 2015 very much like we began last year -- with bitter cold weather.

The low temperature on Thursday, Jan. 8, in Tifton was a bone-chilling 18.7 degreesaccording  to the University of Georgia's Coastal Plain Experiment Station in Tifton.

You may recall that last year, on Jan. 7, Tifton set a record low temperature for the date, shattering a 90-year-old recordA low of 15.4 degrees was recorded on Jan. 7, 2014.The previous record low for Jan. 7 was 17 degrees set in 1924, according to National Weather Service records.

On Jan. 7 this year, Tifton didn't set a new record but it it was close at 19 degrees.

Today (Friday) the high is expected to be 49 degrees and the low will be 27. Beginning Saturday, we experience a warming trend with a high temperature at about 51 and the low at 35 degrees.

Don't complain: It will be spring and the gnats will return before you know it!
