This will be my "10th Annual Appearance" at this popular event for the fly fishing community. There will be lots to see and do for both children and adults.
A Kids area with lots of activities:

3. Back Cast Fly Fishing Film Festival 2012
I am excited to announce that the 5th Annual Back Cast Fly Fishing Film Festival will take place on Saturday February 25, 2012.
This event will be an awareness raiser and fundraiser for Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Canada. Net proceeds will be donated to PHWFFC.
As in past years, festival goers will be treated to a number of full length films from some of the best fly fishing film producers on the planet.

Here's all you need to do: 1. Complete our Consent/Waiver form 2. Photo copy your vehicle registration and proof of insurance (pink card) 3. Give us a spare vehicle key 4. Book your shuttle 7-9 pm the evening before your float For a copy of the Consent/Waiver form, please contact michelle@bowrivershuttles.com Advance Booking: We require ALL shuttle bookings to be done the evening before your float. Please call 7:00 - 9:00 pm. In addition, letting us know your put-in and take-out points is very important for us in planning the logistics for the next day. An exciting new idea for the Okotoks area. A series of live music concerts and a television series featuring several of Southern Alberta's established and emerging musicians.
Rick Harding is the Concert Promoter as well as the Executive Producer of the television series.
Rick is a former 25 year veteran fly fishing outfitter and guide on the Bow River, with 46 years of fly tying experience and 43 years fly fishing experience under his belt.
Okotoks sits on the banks of the Sheep River, which flows into the Highwood River, which flows into the 'Blue Ribbon' Bow River.
In our opinion, all of that qualifies this concert series as 'fly fishing music'! :-)
The musicians come from Okotoks, Longview, Priddis, Turner Valley, Calgary, Fort MacLeod, Cochrane, High River, Milo, Three Hills and Canmore.
Here are some of the musical styles you can expect to hear, as described by the various musicians:

Whether it's the recorded music played in the truck on the way to the stream or the live music in the bar after a long, great day on the river, music accompanies much - not all - of the fly fishing experience. There is, of course, time in the river, when the only music comes from the water rushing over the rocks and the wind in the trees.

The fly fishing season is winding down and it's time to get the Central Alberta Fly Tying Club organized for another year.
The plan is to get rolling on Monday November 28th at 7 pm. We will be again back to West Park Middle School (right across from Red Deer College) in the library!
The plan is to have tying sessions every Monday until the end of March with an added all day fly tying session on Saturday January 7th with Phil Rowley.
At this moment, the Theme is FUN with Foam. With the cost of hackle and its poor availability, it's time we examined alternative ways to tie flies that work.

Seminar will be wrapped up by Kurtis who can answer your questions about what Go Pro product is available at Fish Tales.
Mar 04: What's in the Bag. Join Bow river guides Terry Johnson and Jeff Thomson who will be comparing what they take with them for a day on the river. This is the third time we've offered up this discussion with a different guide pairing each time. It's always an interesting discussion!

Fly Tying - Level I During this five week course students will learn techniques for dubbing, ribbing, hackling dry flies, and more. Some of the flies learned are the San Juan Worm, Beadhead Prince Nymph, Elk Hair Caddis, and Stimulator. Fly Tying - Level II Students will learn the skills necessary for parachute posts, spinning deer hair, hair wings, dubbing ropes, dealing with peacock, and using CDC.

Fly tying Classes
