1. What folks are saying...

About The Stimulator:
"I have enjoyed the Stimulator for years and look forward to each one." - Kevin H. (posted on Facebook)
About our Canadian Premiere of "CONNECT":
"That was a great movie last night - photography, music, content. I liked the story and the connect/disconnect theme. The best part was showing how all these people loved nature and respected the environment. No lecturing, no intellectual data, just showing people enjoying the outdoors. Memorable and affirming." - Rolf S.
|
"Went to the showing of Connect tonight. Seeing a 4' long pike or a 20 pound tiger fish on the BIG screen is totally worth it! Well done everyone involved and I hope some awareness was brought to Project Healing Waters. Thanks David." - David Blair, Fish Tales Fly Shop (posted on Facebook)
|
"I took my two older daughters with me who didn't understand my affection for fishing, but through the film where able to understand the thrill of when the fish rises to the fly.
It was a well-run event that in a quiet way demonstrated the passion of the organizers."
- Dennis L.

11. Fly Fishing & Music
An exciting new idea for the Okotoks area. A series of live music concerts and a television series featuring several of Southern Alberta's established and emerging musicians.
Rick Harding is the Concert Promoter as well as the Executive Producer of the television series.
Rick is a former 25 year veteran fly fishing outfitter and guide on the Bow River, with 46 years of fly tying experience and 43 years fly fishing experience under his belt.
Okotoks sits on the banks of the Sheep River, which flows into the Highwood River, which flows into the 'Blue Ribbon' Bow River.
In our opinion, all of that qualifies this concert series as 'fly fishing music'! :-)
The musicians come from Okotoks, Longview, Priddis, Turner Valley, Calgary, Fort MacLeod, Cochrane, High River, Milo, Three Hills and Canmore.
Here are some of the musical styles you can expect to hear, as described by the various musicians:
- folk music, rock and country
- Acoustic Folk to Bluegrass influenced Alternative Country
- traditional blues
- blues and roots
- world class finger style guitar picker
- acoustic guitar and piano: blues and folk to pop
- rootsy folk, sparsely arranged acoustic pop, and alternative country
- Traditional Country, Folk, to Country Rock and Bluegrass
- 2011 Winner of the 'Song For Canada' Contest
- Gypsy, or 'Manouche' Jazz
A Room Full of Sound

"For me, and I think for a lot of folks, there is a natural and close connection between fly fishing and music. Whether it's the recorded music played in the truck on the way to the stream or the live music in the bar after a long, great day on the river, music accompanies much - not all - of the fly fishing experience. There is, of course, time in the river, when the only music comes from the water rushing over the rocks and the wind in the trees.
Reel Grease is about the songs that-I think-are best suited to "before" and "after" parts.
These songs exist at the intersections of blues music, rock & roll, country, alt. country, folk, gospel, bluegrass, and Americana.
These are great songs . . ."
