"Acceptance is not submission; it is acknowledgement of the facts of a situation. Then deciding what you're going to do about

We had house house guests on Friday evening. My wife arranged for a Buddhist monk she knows from Atlanta to give a book talk and a talk in Asheville this weekend.
What a kind man and what lovely teachings they were.
And the saga of house construction continues with more work being done and our arrival date being pushed back.

Everything Works in Job Hunting

I started in recruiting in 1972 (you know, the
pre-Internet days) when looking for work involved answering newspaper ads, working with agents, "the old boy club," networking groups and generic networking.
Prior to an interview, people would go to the library and look for information about the company they were interviewing with.

Having been a recruiter for almost 40 years (GASP!), I started in the industry at a time where running ads meant in a newspaper and cold calling candidates from company telephone directories and lying to them was far more common than it is today (thank goodness). We were trained to present ourselves as updating telephone books to get names, to call the operator at a company, pretend we were at the airport and . . . I'll skip telling you all the fraud that recruiters would engage in in "days of old."
