Medical implants are complex components made from ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene and other plastics, which act as cushions to minimize stress on the bone-metal interface. While softer than old-style metallic implants, plastic implants lack the elasticity needed for motile body features. Silicone rubber has stepped in to fit the bill.

Congrats to our iPad 2 winner!

This spring we held a drawing for a free iPad 2. We asked industry professionals to submit questions or topics that they would like to learn more about, the questions and answers were then posted on our blog, Silicone.Pro. We would like to congratulate Mike Horvath who won the iPad. Mike is a Senior Industrial Designer at Dynavox in Pittsburgh, PA and says he uses his iPad every day especially for the Map app, so he can plan around the traffic. Thank you to everyone who submitted a question. Stay tuned for our next contest!
