VOLUNTEERS CREATE AN ENCHANTED EVENING FOR AWP!

Enchanted EveningDuring the 2010 holiday season, local artist Aurelia Nieves-Callwood received a letter from a woman who had received services from A Woman's Place (AWP). In this letter, the woman shared her personal story of being a victim of horrific violence. She wrote, "I would never have gotten through any of this nightmare had it not been for one incredibly amazing organization... A Woman's Place. The women that work there saved my life. They did more for me and my children then I could ever have dreamed.... If you are in this situation, you have a place you can go, A Woman's Place."

Neves-Callwood was so moved by this letter that she decided she wanted to do something to support AWP. She enlisted the help of five other local artists - Robert Allen, Nina Bofling, Larry Barnes, David Hahn, and Rich Godshall - and together they decided to hold an art show and donate a portion of the proceeds to the organization. Marlene Tegge, owner of the  Bucks County Antiques Gallery in Chalfont offered to host the event at her store. In addition, Country Creek Winery's owner Joy Klein agreed to offer wine tastings as well as bottled wine available for sale at An Enchanted Evening with Fine Art, Antiques & Music, the event for opening night, which will be held this Saturday, September 17 at Bucks County Antiques Gallery from 5 - 9 p.m.

"I want to do this for all of the women in the county who have been or are in need of the services that AWP provides," said Tegge. "I have supported AWP's thrift store, Full Circle Thrift, for years and now this is just another way for me to get involved."

This collaboration of community artists and business owners has blossomed into what is sure to be a wonderful and enchanted evening of art, wine, food, and music you won't want to miss. For more information on An Enchanted Evening with Fine Art, Antiques & Music, click here.
