Ruesri Dat Ton

"Thai Rishi Yoga" aka "Thai Monk Stretching"

Fri, December 30th

6:30p - 8:30p

This yoga is a gentle sequence of stretches and movements to open & align your energies. Traditionally, it was performed by Thai monks to prepare them for meditation. It's more akin to Qi Gong than to our Western concept of yoga and asanas.  It's an easy set of seated, standing, and supine stretches that you can do on a daily basis.  We will start having weekly classes in 2012, so this class will start preparing you to clear and focus for the coming New Year!  Our instructor, Kristina Dusevic, will be leading this class. No need to register.

Hello Thai Yoga Massage Friends,

fall leaves

As I'm sitting with my tea & sweater on, I'm delighted with the crisp, cool sense in the air. It's, of course, not a new sensation or situation--this entrance into Autumn--but every time it seems to feel like the first time...moving from the Yang energy of Summer into the Yin spirit of Winter.

I hear Reflection and Meditation knocking at my door, and I'm thrilled to invite them in!  The Summer's energy is certainly more external & bright, and now we all start feeling a sense to slow down, go to bed earlier (hopefully!), and have a more internal energy of calm.  But ironically at this time, our schedules are ramping up and TV commercials are preparing us for the chaos of modern-day holidays.

The season transitions, in general, are normally times when people get sick--it's difficult to adjust to a new season because our culture doesn't teach about living WITH the seasons.  At my massage school last weekend the amazing Sylvia Rojas of the Denver Center for Oriental Medicine (website) taught our massage students an introduction to Chinese medicine, and the underlying theme was about the seasons--how everything is and should be connected to the seasons.  When we're aware of the transitions, of the organ systems that are most affected by each season, of the environment in which we live, of the types of foods to eat for different seasons, of the points we should massage, and of the herbs we should take to "tonify" or "sedate", then we live more harmoniously with ourselves, our community, and with the earth--and this awareness can lead to stronger and healthier body systems, such as the immune, digestive, and reproductive systems.

So, what can you start doing to live WITH the seasons?

The first thing is slowing down to notice them! :)

From there, take a few minutes to stop what you're doing during  the day, stopping that "monkey mind", and just listen to your  breath.  Take a yoga class--and different kinds--try a Restorative  class!  Think about trying some of our free massage events each  month and learn how to give and to receive massage, so you and  your friend and/or partner can massage each other.  Massage is a  beautiful way to aid the body's instinctual ability to detoxify.  Schedule a student Thai massage at our clinic--it's only $28 for a  90-min session--there's no reason why you shouldn't take that 90-  minutes for yourself every week.  Think about scheduling an  acupuncture session at the Denver Center for Oriental Medicine--  they also have a community clinic and will soon be offering  workshops to educate the community about Asian medicine.

This is a great time to cleanse--whether big or small cleanses.  I  know they can be intimidating--but try for 3 - 7 days, where you  eliminate the major inflammatory foods--caffeing, alcohol, dairy,  gluten, and refined sugars, and see how AMAZING your body and  spirit can feel when you nurture yourself.

I'm certainly preaching to my OWN choir with ALL of this  information, and that's why I'm sharing it with you. I hope you'll  join me in slowing down, breathing, and nurturing yourselves this  month (and always of course!).

Much Love, Endless Namastes, & Forever Kap Kun Kah!

Online Amazingness!

yoga computer

Okay, so the woman's head posture (to the right) is not the most ergonomically-friendly, but we'll look past that for this segment. :)

We wanted to plant a beautiful seed in your minds and peak your interest...

We are creating a separate website for online massage classes, where students can have a hybrid education of in-class, hands-on learning and then an at-home, online learning component. Of course, for a massage school, "Hello!", hands-on is KEY.  But the state licensure requirements include many hours of more didactic sorts of learning that are very conducive for online education--some of the anatomy, physiology, pathology, and assessment components.

So we will soon be offering our 600-hour massage program with more Hybrid-learning potentials--this will be a HUGE benefit for students that live in mountain towns, in Boulder, the Springs, Ft Collins, and cities further from downtown Denver so that they can take the weekday evening classes from the comfort of their own home and join us for hands-on learning on the weekends.  This hybrid education will also be available for students in other states!  AND, we will have CE classes that can be taken fully online--to learn more about the theory of Thai medicine, energy lines, Chinese medicine, cupping, moxabustion, Western & Thai herbs.

Our new website will be launching on November 1st!  And stay tuned for a FREE 60-min Webinar by Hillary that's an Introduction to Thai massage.  That webinar will be available before the holidays--as our holiday gift to all of you!

SUCH excitement, beauty, and growth abounds!

Merci! Gratzi! Hvala! Kap Kun Kah! Gracias!

Thank you in many languages!!

We appreciate your support and encouragement!
