Top 5 Benefit-Based Health & Wellness Incentives This Week's Challenge: Healthcare companies have grown increasingly creative in their use of economic and benefits-based incentives to drive engagement and participation in health and wellness programs. We wanted to see which benefit-based health and wellness incentives are offered most frequently by healthcare organizations for program participation. What We Learned: The third annual Health and Wellness Incentives Use e-survey by the Healthcare Intelligence Network found that according to 156 healthcare organizations, benefit-based incentives are proving most successful at effecting positive health behavior change. According to respondents to the March 2011 survey, the top 5 benefit-based incentives offered are:

  • Reduced health premium: 52.9 percent

  • Free health coaching: 34.5 percent

  • Reduced/waived co-pay: 19.5 percent

  • HSA contribution: 16.1 percent

  • Work site clinic: 14.9 percent
