City to Host Open House for Yuma's Future on Wednesday

Last chance to comment on General Plan before final draft developed

Yuma, Ariz. - Wednesday brings the last in-person opportunity for Yuma residents to comment on the latest draft of the City of Yuma's General Plan until things start getting formal.

The City will host an Open House on the General Plan 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, in Room 190 of City Hall, One City Plaza (3rd Street between 1st and Madison avenues). Citizens are encouraged to attend, ask questions and provide input on the document that sets the course for what Yuma will become in the future.

During the Open House, City staff will have information and map boards illustrating various elements of the draft 2012 General Plan, including transportation, land use, parks and public safety. These will be set up in stations so people can walk around the room and directly discuss the different elements with staff.

Most recently the subject of a series of joint meetings of the Yuma City Council with the City's Planning and Zoning Commission, a draft of the City of Yuma 2012 General Plan is available for your review on the Community Development/Planning section of the City's web site, www.yumaaz.gov.

Public input is not only welcome, it is encouraged, as this document must be approved by voters every 10 years. Current target time frame for the General Plan to go before voters is August 2012.

About the 2012 General Plan

The plan is intended to be both long range and visionary and to provide guidance for actions to be taken in the next 10 to 20 years.
