Word on the Street
I'm one of the lucky ones to have worked with Landajob in two capacities. Landajob saved me when I quickly needed someone with marketing skills to fill in on my team in a start-up marketing department. They sent the perfect person with the right skill set, experience and attitude. The results were so great that I hired that person in a permanent full-time position. I couldn't afford a gap in marketing service delivery that would have been caused by a search "from the ground up."
Then, as I worked with Landajob seeking a permanent executive position, I had complete information and invaluable preparation for the opportunities in which I was presented. Following a meeting in which I was provided background information for my interview the next day, I left feeling 110% prepared and that I was in good hands with Landajob. They are working for the best interest of all their clients; the employers and the candidates!

Dear Landa
Another installment of Dear Landa (advice to the joblorn) where questions are sometimes real, sometimes not--you can have fun guessing which are which.
Dear Landa,
My name is Jennifer Morton-Shalt. I have submitted my resume to your firm multiple times and, whenever I call, your people never seem to be able to find it. I have a hyphenated last name and the heading on the resume reads "Jennifer Morton," but I was very clear in my cover note that I prefer to go by Jennifer Shalt. Is there any chance that you'll ever get your act together to find my resume? Is there anything I can do to make it easier for you?
Signed,
Frustrated
Dear Frustrated,
Yes, pick a name! Remember that, while we humans do indeed have feeble brains with questionable follow-through and faulty memories, computers are truly stupid. As we feed documents into databases, the software makes rote and automatic decisions about where to file you. All of the feckless recipients of your resume must buy a lottery ticket to figure out where your resume is filed. At this point, you're better off just being "Jenny," in case you can make a career like Cher or Madonna.
Signed,
Landa

Warning: Some of your very best are burning out
We are hearing from lots of people recently. Yes, some calls are happy "we need to hire" calls, and there are still lots of unemployed jobseekers. But the preponderance of contacts recently has been from employees who are working and over-worked as business has picked up. One salaried person has logged over 80 hours in a week (so, no overtime and may not receive comp time either); another replied to a post for a lower-level job saying "I have to get out of here...Read more
