This
fall is FairTest's 25th
Anniversary! Leaders of major civil rights, education,
student and feminist groups created the organization in 1985 to
lead the nation in ending the overuse and misuse of standardized
tests. It's a role we have fulfilled with great visibility and
significant impact, winning many victories for test-optional
college admissions and innovative local assessments. Obviously,
major challenges remain, intensified by an inside-the-D.C. Beltway
consensus for more high-stakes testing and punitive
sanctions.
To mark this milestone and strengthen FairTest's capacity to win
real reforms, Deborah Meier, the first educator to win a MacArthur
genius award and a long-time FairTest Board member, has made a very
generous offer.
Deb has pledged to contribute up to
$10,000 to match anniversary contributions made by other assessment
reform advocates . . . like YOU.
There's never been a time when FairTest was more needed. Last week
alone we led a planning meeting of national assessment reform
allies in Washington, DC, responded to close to 50 media calls
(producing quotes in the New York Times, Washington Post, Los
Angeles Times, Newsweek, and dozens of other print, electronic and
cyber outlets), and hosted 15,000 website visitors. Many days we
simply don't have the time to respond adequately to all the
requests for our help.
With your anniversary year support, FairTest will be able to meet
this demand, expand our work and enhance our effectiveness.
Please help us meet Deb Meier's
challenge today by making the largest possible donation you can at
https://secure.entango.com/donate/MnrXjT8MQqk
or by sending your check to FairTest, 15 Court Square, Suite 820,
Boston, MA 02108.
