RECYCLING
UPDATE
Over
the last several weeks city recycling collection trucks have been
used to assist in the effort to clean up any flood damaged
materials from floods that, primarily, affected parts of the city
not located within our community.
This conversion caused an
obvious decrease in recycling collection city-wide and many of you
have called my office to report missed collection in the 1st
Ward.
During this time, I have been
in constant contact with my Ward Superintendent and other Streets and Sanitation
officials, receiving updates and monitoring the
situation.
Even though I understand the need to pick up materials in other
parts of the city, I demanded that recycling trucks be reinstated
in the 1st Ward.
I am pleased to report that
this morning, I was informed that we would have three extra
recycling trucks made available for our ward.
We will have additional trucks
for the rest of the week and we intend to collect recycling from
all 14,693 homes who have blue carts.

and understanding during this time.
