Hello Friends & Neighbors,

There is a lot happening in Virginia Beach on the economic front as well as the political front this week, so let's jump right in and tell you what's happening.

At-Large Debate Tonight
With the November elections just around the corner, it is important for every voter to become informed about the issues facing our city and how the candidates will deal with them after the election.

This is why I urge you to attend the Virginia Beach City Council At-Large candidates debate tonight at Tidewater Community College in Virginia Beach. The doors open at 6:00 PM.

These candidate debates and forums are critically important because the items being discussed are our schools, our roads and just about every facet of day-to day life in our community. Attend the debate, make your choices and please, make sure to vote on election day.

Support Ashley McLeod
One of the most important functions of our city government is an effective public school system and the most important thing you can do to help keep our school system the best it can possibly be is to return my friend Ashley McLeod to the Virginia Beach School Board.

There will be a fundraiser in support of Ashley McLeod
from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at the home of Leilani Price, 1640 Duke of Windsor Drive Virginia Beach, VA 23454
Minimum Contribution is $50. Republican Women Club Members are only $25.

Please join myself, Congressman Scott Rigell and other elected leaders in supporting Ashley McLeod and if you can't attend, please visit Ashley McLeod's website and see why she is a candidate you should consider supporting.

STIHL in Virginia Beach

Over 40 years ago, STIHL Inc. was looking for a new manufacturing location in the United States and they chose to locate their plant right here in Virginia Beach.

From 50 employees in the 1970's to over 2000 today, STIHL has become the 6th largest employer in Virginia Beach and is still turning out great products that are working all over the world.

I was honored to have been a part of this milestone celebration and hope we can look forward to another 40 years of STIHL chainsaws and other power equipment built right here in Virginia Beach.

More Great News

beer_glass_full.jpg Ground was broken just this past week for Green Flash Brewery's East Coast manufacturing facility right here in Virginia Beach.

In fact, the founders of Green Flash Brewery were considering locating their plant in North Carolina until a piece of legislation carried by my friend Senator Jeff McWaters changed the dynamics and attracted Green Flash Brewery to our city.

This will mean 40 new jobs coming to our city, working in a facility that will brew 50,000 barrels of beer per year with a projected growth to 100,000 barrels of beer each year.

That's good news, indeed.
