Welcome to EFC-ER's Weekly Encourager. We trust that this will become a bright spot each week in your emails. The purpose of the Weekly Encourager is to provide up-to-the minute information about region-wide events, prayer requests and helpful resources from the local churches. We will close each email with a quick quote and/or survey to gather helpful resources from leaders to share with our wider Friends family. 

News from the office:
* EFC-ER now has a YouTube channel! You can view a video of our work in Haiti in the current video.  More videos are coming!  These videos can be used during offerings, as part of sermons in October, or in small groups.  Other videos from EFC-ER are also on the channel.You can access our YouTube Channel here.

Upcoming Events:

*Oct. 17-19 - Northern Women's Retreat at Heartland Conference Center in Marengo, Ohio.  More details available on the WMF webpage. 


*Oct. 25 - Malone University is hosting a one-day training at Malone for ministries leaders.  Workshops for all kinds of ministries within the church will be offered. Equip2Serve Ministry Conference at Malone University.

*Nov. 14 - Malone University will begin their first annual Wesleyan Scholars Lecture entitled, "Holiness and Meditation: A Wesleyan Recipe for Renewal"
Dr. Jason Vickers will deliver the first lecture. Dr. Vickers is a well respected Wesleyan scholar and author. Registrations and details available online here.

A Grand Board Meeting
 
is being planned for all EFC-ER board members on all boards February 11-12, 2015.  Tentative plan is...
  • All-day at Jackson Friends Church in Massillon
  • Lunch will be served
  • Meeting together for worship, instruction, and fellowship
  • Meeting as individual boards for business

More details will be sent out when the date is confirmed.

Weekly Encourager for October 8, 2014
Please keep the John Williams family in prayer.
Our sympathies to retired pastor, Dr John Williams, Sr. on the passing of his wife, Geraldine (Gerry). 
She is also the mother of and Dr. John & Carol Williams, Jr. 
Calling hours and funeral will be this Saturday, Oct. 11th at Damascus Friends Church in Damascus, OH.  Calling hours will be from 12 to 1:00 PM with the funeral following at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to EFCI and sent to the W.O.C.



NEWS FROM OUR SOUTHERN CHURCHES
 * A Homecoming service was held last week at Ferry Rd. EFC. 
* Homecoming celebrations will be held this week at both Longview EFC and Rescue EFC on Oct 12.
