First Responder Grants, Inc

"Lyndon Fire & Rescue had been applying for Fire Act grants since 2002, and after being rejected every year till 2006 we decided to seek help. I attended a grant writing training class conducted by Kurt and began using his after-seminar support every year since then. Our results have been outstanding. With his assistance and professional guidance, our department has won over $514K in AFG and SAFER grants. I highly recommend Kurt Bradley and First Responder Grants, Inc. both for their training classes and their services. You simply can't go wrong."

- Firefighter Lee Hook, Lyndon Fire & Rescue, Kentucky

Past Students Say...

"I am honored to have been mentored by Kurt Bradley. He has inspired me to initiate the grant process for our fire department. Looks like another successful grant for us, to the tune of $7.6M for staffing. Thank you again, Kurt.
- John Lyman, Fire Captain & Paramedic, Waterford Township Fire Department, Michigan

"I have no one to thank but YOU! You are the one that gave me the guidance and what was needed to be so successful in being awarded a 2011 Assistance to Firefighters Grant. Both myself and my department greatly appreciate all your help which enabled us to update and expand our department's equipment and services."
- Chief John Kirchner, Diamond Fire Company, Ohio

"I have been to Kurt's classes before and they are GREAT! I have had a 70% success rate with all my grants at Burkville FD and helping other departments in Lowndes Co since attending. It has also opened my eyes to other grant opportunities besides just AFG and others through DHS. If you want to see the Trucks, the Turnouts, the SCBAs, the Thermal Imagers, the Hose, the Cascade System that I have been successful with since attending, just let me know I'll be glad to send you pictures of them!

The small cost to your department to send you will be quickly recouped when AFG and other grants open up."
- Assistant Chief Justin Dixon, Burkville Fire Department, Alabama

Come develop your 2013 AFG application while being free from the distractions of your normal workday environment. Our 2013 AFG Super Summit gives you hands-on, face-to-face time to make your FY2013 AFG application the best it can be.
  • No answering of calls for service, no phone calls, no interruptions by fellow workers, supervisors or children and spouses while you are trying to focus.
  • Work in an enviornment where you have instant "face to face" access to others who have already gained multiple awards with this program and can quickly provide you with the benefit of their experience and knowledge in developing a successful application for submission.
  • Learn from your peers' trial-and-error experience and their individual victories for their departments.
  • Gain useful, spot-on insight into the inner workings of this program, talk with grant writers who have formerly served as peer reviewers and can offer tips and hands-on insight that leads to a successful application.
  • Have your application reviewed by 3 seperate mock review panels comprised of some of the very people who actually sit on these panels. Their written comments and critiques can help you improve your narrative statement-something you never get from official peer panel reviewers!
Collaborative Think Tank Format

Using a collective "think tank" format has proven to be a tried-and-true method of increasing your chances of success in the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG). Why wonder if your application is strong enough or has weaknesses prior to submission? Knowing this before you submit is the key to giving yourself that competitive edge.

Previous AFG Winners Only

Participation in this special annual event is limited to experienced fire service grant writers. You must have a proven record of success and be willing to share your expertise with your peers.

This is not a "basic grant writing class." The AFG Super Summit utilizes a collective "brain trust/networking type concept" to build up your competitive advantage in this popular federal grant program. It is a prerequisite for attendance that you have previously witten and been awarded an Assistance to Firefighters Grant award.

This Year's Location

The Annual AFG Super Summit started in Reno in 2009 and moved to Tampa in 2010. 2011 saw us in Nashville, and in 2012 we were guests of Westchester FD in Illinois. This year we will be headed for beautiful Waterford FD in Michigan, located halfway between Flint and Detroit.

This year's Super Summit is being hosted by Waterford FD, halfway between Detroit and Flint, Michigan. Your host, Captain John Lyman, was the grant writer for the recently awarded SAFER grant of $7.6M. This grant will enable Waterford to hire 39 additional firefighters to offset the workload they inherited when the Pontiac FD in Michigan was disbanded and Waterford FD assumed fire services responsibility.
