Sunday

Ray, when somebody asks you if you are a god, you say, yes.

Made perfect sense for Ghostbusters talking to Zuul.

We, on the other hand, would not (and should not) ever say that we are gods.  But have you ever thought about what makes you more like God (as we usually say, more Christ-like)?   Does it seem possible?  Do you know where to begin?  Well, we're going to begin at the beginning on Sunday. With the Gospel.

This week's readings

Youth Group Today! This week's youth group topic: What can the Lord's Prayer tell us about prayer in general? What do those crazy words mean, anyways? Come to youth group and find out! Youth this week will be in the Mission Hall at Saint Elizabeth following the Sunday morning service. We will enjoy snacks, play some capture the flag, and learn! Please remember to bring shoes you can wear while running down the youth minister and putting him in the dreaded capture the flag jail.

FAITH and growth

As of Thursday, there were only 5 spots left in Cursillo 266 on November 13-15 at Camp Capers near Comfort.  Warden Terri Thompson and Pastor Jennifer are on the team; Carrick B-D, Andrew Green and his dad Danny, and Karen Gregg are candidates.  The window of opportunity is about to close.  Contact Terri or Pastor Jennifer if you want to be a part of a fantastic weekend.

Family Faith  -  Losing God . . . finding God. How does that go for you and your household? One of these activities could help.

Where Would You Go? Around Columbus Day or a long school break weekend, dream together about places you would like to visit and what it might be like to be God's people in a different place. (Young Families)

Bullying Hurts Bullies have been around for a long time. In this activity we'll read a story about a bully in the Bible, and think about why that person might have bullied others. Then we'll have the option to think about the effects of bullying, or to create an anti-bullying superhero. (Just for Kids)

Lighting the Darkness Halloween can be a scary time for young children. Masks on otherwise familiar people and scary decorations in the neighborhood or in stores can make this fun holiday a fearful time for little ones. Remind them that the light of God is always with them with this activity. (Young Families)

Finding God's Fingerprints Take your family outdoors to spend time in nature, slow down, and see the evidence of the awesomeness of God through the world the Creator has made. (Teen Families)

Season of Change There's a wind of change in the air: society's views, church practices, technology, and you. As Joshua stood at the edge of a great unknown, he had to decide what to hold onto and what to let go. Let his story help you navigate seasons of change. (Young Adults)

Bringing Order from Chaos Spending a few minutes each day observing, reflecting, and praying about creation can increase your awareness of God's past, present, and future activity in it. (Adult / Couple)
