"We are an Easter People" presents

Thursday, April 25, 11:00am, Lower Auditorium
 
As a community, we will create a Mosaic of words, phrases, and images that represent a variety of experiences that illustrate that we are an Easter people. Through conversation and art, we will have a discussion of what we see, feel, and hear as members of this community. This event will end with a service of Holy Communion. Facilitated by Chris Copeland, Shonda Jones, and John Senior. Sponsored by Mosaic.


Outdoor Tai Chi - Today, April 15, 12:05pm - Hearn Plaza (in front of Wait Chapel)
Afternoon Tai Chi has arrived. Starting with today, Tai Chi will gathered on Monday's at 12:05pm in front of Wait Chapel on Hearn Plaza. Pathways in Ministry: Financial Realism - Wednesday, April 24, 11:00am - Wingate 202You are about to follow your calling to serve the church. Your education has prepared you to teach, preach and offer hope and comfort. But what can you expect when you meet with your first pastoral search committee and you have to negotiate your first pastoral contract? Creating a clear foundation for compensation and benefits strengthens the pastor-church relationship and will set you on the course toward a healthy stewardship of your financial life. Join us as we share about preparing for your first call, understanding employment packages, tax advantages for clergy, and setting a firm financial foundation in your personal life. Add to your calendar.

All are invited to a great opportunity to learn about how to tend to our financial lives in ministry. We are grateful to have Jim Hylton, an alum from Wake Forest School of Divinity in 2006, leading us in this presentation and conversation. In addition to his M.Div., Jim has an MBA, is a Certified Church Administrator, and currently serves as the Business Administration Coordinator with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina.

Library Lecture Series presents "Row, row, row your boat: Recovery from Disaster in the John T. Christian Library at New Orleans Baptist Seminary"

James Byrd, Deacon OneCard manager, will speak about the process of disaster recovery following Hurricane Katrina in the John T. Christian Library at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He will also discuss some of the lessons learned from the experience, both positive and negative. You can register here.

"I Wish" Film Screening

The Office of Multicultural Affairs and The East Asian Languages Department will be hosting a film screening of I Wish, about 12-year-old Koichi, who has been separated from his brother Ryunosuke due to his parents' divorce, and who begins to believe that the new bullet train service will create a miracle when the first trains pass each other at top speed.

The Reynolda Village Farmers Market will be held each Friday at 8:00 a.m. (weather permitting). Come shop on the lawn for fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, meats, and more. 

 

 

WoofForest Yappy Hour
April 26, 5:00pm - Hearn Plaza
This Friday! WoofForest will be hosting a Yappy Hour at 5:00pm in order to raise money for the local Humane Society. Bring your dogs (or any other trained animals, if you so desire) and come hang out on Hearn Plaza. There will be puppy racing with the dogs from the Forsyth County Humane Society (No dogs will be harmed in the process, we promise), a raffle to win prizes and a contest to find the most "Demon Deacon" of dogs. We will also be selling homemade bow ties and will be offering pet portraits for a small donation.
