Medicaid Eligibility for Adults Age 21 and Over

Effective January 22, 2013, the Division of Developmental Disabilities (Division) eligibility regulations have changed to require Medicaid eligibility as a condition of receiving Division-funded services. As a result of this change:
  • Individuals who are new to the Division will be required to both meet functional criteria and have Medicaid eligibility before they can begin receiving any services from the Division.

  • Individuals already receiving Division-funded services who are not already Medicaid eligible will have to become Medicaid eligible before receiving any new services and will have 60 days (until March 23, 2013) to become Medicaid eligible in order to ensure continuation of current services.
    • In some cases, the Division will extend this 60 day requirement, where the individual is working to obtain Medicaid eligibility but experiencing delays from DDD or the State or County Medicaid offices.

    • The Division is already working to identify individuals who are receiving services but are not currently Medicaid eligible and work with them to obtain Medicaid eligibility. There are different ways to initiate the Medicaid eligibility process, depending on the type of services being received, as well as other factors. Click here for additional information about the different ways to become Medicaid eligible, depending on an individual s needs and current services

    • This important reform is necessary to ensure that the State can maximize the receipt of federal revenue and preserve and enhance community-based supports for individuals with developmental disabilities system-wide.

EFNJ Scholarship Program Celebrates 20 Years!

The Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey is pleased to announce it is accepting applications for its scholarship program for New Jersey high school seniors who have epilepsy.  We anticipate offering a least three $1,000 scholarships.  The program was started in 1993.

New Jersey high school seniors with epilepsy who plan to attend a college or university are eligible.  Academic achievement, participation in activities and financial need will be considered.  The extent of a student's disability(s) will be taken into account as well, so that s/he need not be near the top of her/his class to qualify.  Final awards will be made by the Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey, which reserves the right not to make any awards.

Click here to print or download the 2013 Scholarship Application. Applications and supporting documents are due May 10, 2013. Please call 800.336.5843 or email [email protected] for more information.
