INSPIRATION TO REVISION

A WORKSHOP

In this eight week workshop we'll begin by generating ideas and pages with writing exercises. Once something catches our fancy, we'll dig in, building characters through action and dialog, creating full scenes, vivid settings, exploring story arc, point of view and being certain that something real is at stake. We'll deepen and expand our drafts through supportive peer critique and with tools for revision.

Taught by Natalie Serber, author of Shout Her Lovely Name, a New York Times Editor's Choice book.

WRITING MIDDLE GRADE AND YOUNG ADULT NOVELS
Novels for kids and teens must have honesty, heart, and motion. These same qualities will guide our work together. We'll workshop five-page sections of your work at a time, finding its strengths and building out from there. Come find focused insight on your work-in-progress, inspiration and energy for your writing, and a community of like-minded souls to support you in your journey. For writers at all levels and stages, whether your work-in-progress is first pages or a full draft.

Taught by Emily Whitman, author of Wildwing, which won the 2012 Oregon Book Award for Young Adult Literature and was a Bankstreet College Best Children's Book.
