This smoke is making it hard to enjoy our trails lately, but there is lots of good news for trails near Incline this month!
Incline Flume Trail funds - $22,000 donation from Ponderosa Ranch - THANKS!
The Ponderosa Ranch has generously donated $22,000 to begin the heritage resource studies required by the USFS on the entire trail!  Thank you Ponderosa Ranch owner and staff members!

Though the outcome of the "land swap" proposal is not yet known and may not be determined until next year, this donation enabled us to start the heritage "field" studies on public land before the snow falls.  This puts us in a position for agencies to review the results over the winter and be ready to potentially start trail improvements next year.

We still need more funding for the remaining environmental studies (at least $15,000) as well as construction funds, so please donate today - DONATE VIA PAYPAL.
Diamond Peak summer ops/trails
On September 10th, the IVGID trustees voted to "receive"  the new Diamond Peak Master Plan (which includes summer activities and TRAILS!).  This means that Diamond Peak staff will begin putting together some concrete details and obtain permitting for items in the plan. Public input will continue to be taken and Trustees will be asked to approve expenditures at a later date.
USFS reaches decision on Incline Lake
The USFS made the decision this month to not rebuild the Incline Lake dam and to restore the area to a wetland environment.  Their announcement states "Now that we have a decision on the future of the dam, we'll be working to engage the community in planning for the entire 777-acre property, which is a spectacular addition to public lands in the Lake Tahoe Basin."  We look forward to participating in trail planning!
Newly completed trails - thanks to TRTA
The TRTA has been hard at work on trails in the Mt. Rose Wilderness area.  Check out this map: Rim to Reno trail system.  One can now completely avoid Relay Peak road to get to Relay Peak by hiking on single track trail from Mt. Rose Hwy summit all the way to the radio towers.  There is also a new spur trail to Mt. Houghton from Relay Peak.  Thanks to TRTA!  Help out if you can with some maintenance  trail work in this area  - see Local Trailwork on the left.
New trail construction in Nevada State Park
TAMBA and Lake Tahoe NV State Park are breaking ground for a new section of trail between the TRT and Red House Flume Trail.  Help is needed for trail work on Sep 28 and Oct 11 - info

We are a new and growing group of Incline area trail enthusiasts - please forward to anyone whom you think might be interested in joining or getting our updates.  Thanks for your support!
