RENOVATION
Update
The newly-renovated first floor restrooms officially opened Friday, September 12.  Energy-efficient historic replica windows that match the building aesthetic will replace the windows in both restrooms.  All glass will be frosted to allow for both daylight and privacy. Only the upper-level windows will be operable, and they will open like an awning for protection during inclement weather.  The windows are scheduled to be delivered and installed before Christmas.

The Welcome Center returned to full service Monday, September 7,
and the new HVAC equipment has greatly reduced the level of distracting noise.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during our renovations.

Listening Well

Pastor Cathy Johns

A wise pastor once told me, "Cathy, just remember as you begin your studies to become a pastor...God gave us two ears and one mouth." As an extrovert, I struggle to listen twice as much as I speak. Listening well is important to me, but sometimes it is a challenge.

When Jesus talks with the woman from Samaria at the well, Jesus shows us how to listen well:

L ook at the other person (John 4:7)
I nvest in people (John 4:13-14)
S top whatever else you are doing (John 4:9)
T hink about them and what they are saying (John 4:25-26)
E mpathize with them (John 4:18)
N otice their body language

Listening is an act of hospitality. When we listen to another person, really hearing them share from their hearts, it is a way of honoring them. It also extends authentic hospitality.

May God help us to use our ears and our hearts as we lovingly listen to each other.

Peace,
Pastor Cathy

The hospitality we offer is an expression of our relationship with Jesus Christ and our desire to welcome others into that relationship.  There are many opportunities to welcome people to worship each week. Consider serving as an Usher, Communion Server, Liturgist, Choir member, on the Technology Team, on the Hospitality Team or on an Altar Guild which cares for the altar and the worship paraments. Contact the church office, 871-1345 for more information.

Children's Ministry is looking for excellent nursery workers to minister to our children in the nursery Sunday morning and during the week for other ministry events. Contact Sara O'Conner, [email protected].

Children's Choir

Children from Kindergarten- 6th grade are invited to an engaging worship experience led by our Children's Choir Director, Tracey Payling. Children participating in choir will begin the 11:00 hour in the Sanctuary with their families.  After a Children's Moment early in the worship service, children will be dismissed to go to the Choir Room for Children's Choir.  They will experience liturgy, music and Bible readings as they prepare to sing in church services and lead the congregation in worshipping God.   Parent volunteers will escort the children from worship to the Choir Room( Room 202) for Choir.  Parents can take their time to visit after worship and pick up their children from the Choir Room at 12:15.  The children will be singing in the following services, so save the dates!
