Let's Try Again ... Worship at Wingate

Due to last week's snow storm, the Wingate service was postponed. We will have it this Sunday at 1:00pm.

We always welcome new volunteers, as they are always needed. Volunteers help in many ways by giving residents wheelchair rides to and from the service or by reading Scripture for example. New volunteers are paired with experienced volunteers until you "learn the ropes." This week communion will be served. The number of Wingate folks able to attend worship is dependent upon the number of PCIS volunteers who are able to help out. Greetings!

This Sunday marks the 2nd Sunday in Lent and the end of school vacation. We are resuming our regular worship schedule Sunday, with two services and Sunday School and Adult Education classes ... Unless, the coming snow storm causes us to change plans yet again. Please note our Winter Weather Reminder and remember to check our website and your email for important changes and announcements if needed.

Winter Weather Reminder

If severe weather requires Sunday services to be canceled, every effort will be made to notify church members. Information can be found on the church's website (
www.pcsudbury.org), at WBZ (www.wbz.com, look under "school closings"), and on our telephone's recorded message (978-443-9151). Remember to use good judgment and don't venture out if conditions feel unsafe.

"The Fox and the Hen"

Dr. McIvor's sermon is "The Fox and the Hen" based on Luke 13.31-35. Some Pharisees warned Jesus that Herod wants to kill him. Jesus calls Herod a fox and tells the Pharisees to let Herod know that he can't stop what Jesus came to do. Then Jesus laments the disobedience of Jerusalem and says he wants to gather her children like a hen protects her brood under her wings. So the text contrasts what the fox Herod wants to do - kill - with what the hen Jesus wants to do - save. It's a story of violence vs. love. Love wins, but only by dying. Quite a story for us to think about.

LCP Calindagan
Thank You for Donating to the Little Children of the Philippines Preschools!

The children and the teachers in the LCP preschools are thankful for the generosity and help that this congregation shares with the preschool program. Currently, there are more than 120 preschoolers enrolled in seven preschools. They are provided with educational materials, nutritional snacks, and vitamins...all thanks to our donations. Thank you so much for making a big difference in these children's lives and giving an opportunity to provide education to every needy family. You have answered God's call in a very special way!
