INTRODUCING
MINISTER OF WORSHIP ARTS
MICHAEL FISHER, JR.

MCCDC WELCOMES MICHAEL!

This Sunday, we welcome Michael Fisher to worship with us and to his first day as MCCDC's new Minister of Worship Arts. Michael was born into a family of musicians who encouraged his musical abilities at a young age. His music career began in the church and included singing in a trio with his father and younger brother at outside events, including singing the national anthem at pro sporting venues. Michael is classically trained on the cello and piano and has played for such popular gospel artists as The Clark Sisters, Kierra "Kiki" Sheard, Dr. Rance Allen and more.

On Sunday, August 10 at the 9AM & 11AM services Michael will be accompanying Special Guest Artist Cassandra White from the acclaimed Gospel Ensemble of Houston, Texas. Also, plan now to invite family and friends to "Celebration Sunday" on September 14 for a musical Sunday with Michael Fisher leading worship and directing the Choir. The service will include a Rite of Blessing for his ministry with a Celebration Reception to follow both services.

This is a great time to join the Worship Arts Ministry at MCCDC. Michael will be joining Rev. Cathy and me for a meeting of the Worship Arts Ministry on Saturday, August 9 to further the vision of a joyful, excellent, and growing Worship Arts Ministry. You are welcome to join us and be a part of what we are building.

Worship each Sunday will include experiencing God through great music and creative expression. We also look forward to inspiring our community through musical outreach.

This Sunday, introduce yourself to Michael and welcome him

to MCCDC. See you Sunday!

Faithfully,

Rev. Dwayne Johnson

"A MISSISSIPPI LOVE STORY"

Showing at MCCDC

The subjects of the movie, Eddie and Justin will be present to discuss.

This film introduces the viewer to Eddie and Justin, together living what might otherwise be considered an ordinary life during an extraordinary time in history. It provides a glimpse into the relationships the two have with one another, and with family, friends and their Deep South hometown. Against the backdrop of legal battles about same-sex marriage, Eddie and Justin share their personal take on what love really means.

Filmed primarily in Mississippi during the year surrounding the U.S. Supreme Court decisions in the DOMA and Prop 8 cases, this film captures the lives and community of Eddie Outlaw and his partner, Justin McPherson (now Outlaw), as they watch, wait and react to the change in federal law affecting same-sex marriages.

The film is a love story on several levels:  Eddie's and Justin's personal relationship, their love of their home state and decision to stay, and the love of their families.
