Wait Fellowship Visit - Thursday and Friday, February 21-22 - Wingate Hall

Lenten Preaching Series - Friday, 12:00pm - First Baptist Church on Highland Avenue in Winston-Salem | This week's preacher is Dr. John Senior. The Preaching Series, sponsored by the School of Divinity FBC Highland, will focus on the theme Good Religion. Join the community for worship (sermon and communion) with lunch following. Throughout Lent this service will be held each Friday. Other preachers will include Chaplain K. Monet Rice, Jill Crainshaw, Bill Leonard, Dean O'Day, and several students.


AKONI Documentary and Discussion - Friday, February 22, 6:00 - 9:00pm
Soundtrack for a Revolution tells the story of the American civil rights movement through its powerful music - the freedom songs protesters sang on picket lines, in mass meetings, paddy wagons, and in jail cells. Join AKONI or a screening of this documentary and discussion to follow. Add to your calendar.

 


Lunch with Dean O'Day | During thespring semester, Dean Gail O'Day will host several opportunities for 2-3 students to have lunch with her. These "lunch with the dean" events provide an opportunity for her to get to know members of the Divinity community, and give you the chance to share your thoughts, perspectives, ideas, innovations, and comments. The workshop will be led by John Senior, Director of the Art of Ministry and Assistant Professor of the Practice of Religion and Society; Shonda Jones, Associate Dean, Admissions and Student Services, and Chris Copeland, Assistant Director of Leadership Development. Call for Papers and Presentations
  

On April 20th the Wake Forest Hunger Board will hold a Food Justice Summit to promote awareness of and advocacy for food justice issues in Winston-Salem and the greater North Carolina area.

 

The Hunger Board is accepting proposals for presentations based on both research and outreach addressing hunger and food insecurity. Proposals are welcome from practitioners, faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates from across all disciplines and areas of practice, especially those that demonstrate innovative ideas and methods of action.

 

Proposals are due by February 22nd and should be a maximum of 300 words. Contact Brittany Forniotis at [email protected] with questions and submissions.  Decisions will be made by March 6th and selected proposals will be notified shortly thereafter.
