'Mobile in Transportation' at Mobile Monday Detroit
 
Mobile and wireless technologies are significantly impacting every sector of the transportation industry; from connected cars, to fleet management, to air, sea and land traffic control, to public transit, and alternative transportation options like car-sharing, ride-sharing, bike-sharing and much more.

At Mobile Monday Detroit on September 15th at 5:30 p.m. we will discuss how these technologies are being used to capture data such as infrastructure, transport mode status, weather, location, safety and more then compile it in such a way as to provide increased transportation management capabilities, better service, decreased costs, and increased safety.

  • Sue Zielinski, Managing Director, SMART at the University of Michigan
  • Tim Yerdon, Vice-president of Design, Marketing & Connected Services, Visteon
  • Matt Webb, Senior Project Manager, M-1 Rail/HNTB

Topics discussed will include:

  • Use of mobile/wireless technologies across the broad scope of next-generation transportation systems
  • The auto industry's focus on the 'Connected Car' and opportunities provided by the 'Internet of Things'
  • An overview of the M-1 Rail Streetcar Project and the way wireless technologies will be used in the project's vehicles and systems
  • HMI (Human-Machine Interface) that can anticipate driver's needs, leveraging of infotainment API's, and combining behavioral data & driver preferences for increased features/functionality

The event will also include a special announcement from the Mobile Technology Association of Michigan (MTAM) and demo kiosks from Lochbridge during the event networking from 5:30 - 6:00 p.m.

The Mobile Technology Association of Michigan (MTAM) is a non-profit trade association for Michigan's mobile/wireless industry. We are the first state-based mobile/wireless industry trade association in the U.S., and our mission is:

     

  • to facilitate conversation/collaboration between varied sectors of the mobile/wireless eco-system; serve as the bridge to enable diverse organizations to understand each others perspectives and needs in order to drive new innovation and opportunities involving these technologies; 
  • to increase the use of Michigan-based mobile/wireless technology products and services in-state, nationally and globally;
