CHIA graduate passionate about great use of patient data

Queensland cardiac clinical informatics leader Dr Jillian Milne, who recently graduated as a Certified Health Informatician  Australasia (CHIA), says she is firmly committed to the benefits good data brings to patient care.  Dr Milne, who is the Queensland Health Statewide Cardiac Clinical Informatics Unit (CCIU) Manager leads a program to expand the information available across the cardiac patient care continuum and deliver business benefits to cardiac catheter labs and cardiac surgery overall.  "I came to Queensland Health as my passion is for building capacity so we can conduct our own internal QA and research using the data that is routinely collected as part of patient care," she said.  She said she undertook the CHIA exam to demonstrate the level of expertise within the CCIU.  "CHIA covers a huge range of areas, but luckily my current role provides me with experience across all the CHIA domains as the Informatics Units I lead is part of a wider health informatics program, the Cardiac Information Solutions Program (CISP), so I was not too nervous. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone involved in clinical informatics".
