What is NROC?

Have you ever noticed the "powered by NROC" label underneath the HippoCampus logo and wondered what it was?

NROC is a non-profit, member-driven project focused on new models of

digital content development, distribution and use. NROC's collaborative efforts bring open resources for personalized learning to the world. NROC is sustained by institutional members of the NROC Network, a community committed to improving access to high-quality education for all. See a full list of our current members here.

"It's a community. As a group, we can pool our resources and command the attention of funders to create and maintain the resources we want. This approach makes it affordable, adaptable and appropriate for our needs," explains Gary Lopez, founder of the NROC Project.

Institutional members of the NROC Network enjoy access to additional resources and services to support the incorporation of NROC content into institutional curriculum. These "sustaining members" have a vested interest in the on going availability, maintenance and growth of the NROC Project, including its affiliate projects, such as HippoCampus. Whether you are a small school or state department of education, there is a membership level that is right for you!
