Greetings!

We hope you are staying warm and have been able to come out and fly with us on the few nice days we've had so far this month.  If you haven't been out, this weekend is looking fabulous and we still have some available times open for aircraft rental and/or instruction.  Come out and fly!

Also, Bill Lewis is available at 2pm tomorrow for a lesson in the simulator if anyone is interested in G1000 Training or IFR training.  The feedback from our students working with Bill in the sim remains extremely positive.

In this issue:

  1. Tomorrow's gathering
  2. High School program approved and moving forward!
March Gathering - Social Hour
Tomorrow's gathering (Saturday March 2nd) will be much less formal than past gatherings.  We had a few possible guest speakers that were unable to attend and we don't have any specific topics to cover.  So instead, we'll have a "Social Hour" from 9am-11am to socialize and do some hangar flying.  We'll also have the Redbird available until 10:30 for anyone who would like to try it out at no charge during that time.  Come out and visit!

We'll have coffee, fruit and donuts as usual.  So if nothing else, just come out to have some good donuts!
High School program approved!
We are very excited that our high school program has been approved for next school year starting in the fall!

Students that sign up will become EAA Young Eagle students.  After they take their Young Eagles flight this summer, they'll get free access to Sporty's online Private Pilot ground school, which will be used as the core part of the curriculum.  The class will be taught by one of the high school teachers that has a private license, and will get his Ground Instructor rating in order to teach the material.  The students will also receive their first flight lesson free, and re-imbursement for the FAA written exam if they pass, all as part of the Young Eagles program.  We'll have frequent field trips to the flight school to get hands on experience with our aircraft.  We also have a big list of industry experts that will come in and speak with the students.

If anybody is interested in being a volunteer Young Eagles pilot for taking the students on their first flight please let us know.  Any costs associated with flying the students must be covered by the pilot.  We'll have a reduced rental rate on our aircraft on the day of the flights and the airport has agreed to give us a discount on Fuel on that day also.  We'll have more detail on dates for these flights in future Newsletters.

We are sure that this will be a great experience for us and the students.  Of course our hope is to get more kids exposed to everything the Aviation Industry has to offer and we think this will be a great opportunity for them.

Here are a couple Press Releases announcing the program:
As always, if there's anything we can do to serve you better, please let us know.

Happy Flying!

Sincerely,
Matt and Andrea Dahline
