5th Annual Bake Bethesda a Pie Contest

Join the fun for the 5th annual “Bake Bethesda a Pie” contest, a fundraiser for Manna Food Center at Bethesda Central Farm Market on Sunday, August 31, 2014!

This year there are THREE categories for entrants: kids (7-17), adults, and new this year - local culinary students! This contest is open to amateur bakers only. There is a $5 registration fee per pie and all proceeds raised during this event will help support Manna's food recovery and distribution program.  If you are registering as an adult and also have a child entering, please register separately.  Registration is open through August 28, 2014.  We cannot accept walk-in registrants or accept any registrations once regsitration has closed. Click here for complete details and contest rules.

The contest will take place from 9am-11am on Sunday, August 31 at Bethesda Central Farm Market.  Pie drop off is from 9:00 - 9:45 and judging will start promptly at 10 am.

The pies will be judged by an impressive group of food professionals. Lisa Cherkasky is a sought after Washington, DC based food stylist, pastry chef and writer. Susan Wallace is the Corporate Executive Pastry Chef at Black Restaurant Group, and oversees the group’s five restaurants. Peter Brett is a professor at the Stratford University School of Baking and Pastry Arts. He was the former Pastry Chef for Blue Duck Tavern and was a RAMMY Best Pastry Chef Nominee.

Prizes will be awarded for all categories at the completion of judging. After judging, everyone can sample the pies! All we ask is that you make a small contribution to the Manna Food Center.

So get your recipes, your rolling pin and get going! See you on August 31!
