Friends,

I hope you're all enjoying this beautiful summer...

A special word of thanks to Louise Gemmell Joanna Samuelson & Carolyn Piper--and to all the rest of you who carried an extra load while our family was enjoying a couple of weeks of vacation.  It's great to be back in Granville, and to plunge back into all the exciting things that are happening as we gear up for the fall!

This month, we welcome Ceciel Shaw to our staff as part-time Director of Ministry to Children & Families!  Along with her husband Jack Shuler and kids, Amelie ("AJ") and Frankie, Ceciel is already well-loved at UCG.  With formal education at both Rutgers (B.A.) and the Teacher's College at Columbia University (M.A.), and bringing with her a wealth of experience in teaching and with children, we're blessed to have Ceciel agree to serve in this way.  Welcome, Ceciel!

Shalom,

Dwight

Thought for the Day

"The central problem for the Christian church in America today is that most of us fear the cure more than the illness.  Most of us prefer the plausible lie that we can't be cured to the fantastic truth that we can be.  And there's a reason:  if it's hell to be guilty, it's scarier to be responsible--response-able, able to respond to God's visionary and creative love."

- Rev. William Sloane Coffin
