This Week in Worship
Sunday, February 10th, Dr. Susan DeHoff's sermon is "Who IS He?" based on Luke 9.28-36. Just exactly who Jesus is was the question of the Apostles' day and is still the question of our day.  Every child of God must ultimately answer this question.  Just exactly who asks the question may be difficult to discern, but it is one we hear nonetheless.  Next Sunday we will consider how this question has been answered in the past and explore how we might arrive at our own answer today.

Peter's Story: Standing Firm in God's Foundation

LCP 2013"I was born and brought up in an extended type of family in Dumaguete City, Philippines with a family of six: my half sister, brother-in-law, three nephews and myself being the adopted son. They had treated me like real son and provided all my basic necessities.

The year 2009 was the best year of my life. It was then I finished my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. The following year the Lord showered His blessings when I passed the nursing examination.  This lit the flame of desire to return back to LCP where I had finished my preschool and learned the values that shaped me into who I am today.

I was particularly interested in the LCP Handclasp Program where I can put in use everything I have learned and hone my skills as a nurse.  My work as a Handclasp Coordinator offers great satisfaction, contentment and pleasure in serving the less fortunate children.  It is then, said Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". Indeed, this was what I grasped from my happy days of preschool here in LCP. There was great emphasis that with God nothing is impossible. He is our Great Mentor who gives us strength in hopeless times to make impossible things possible.

This has been my guide in every case that I have handled. I always bear in mind that God uses me as an instrument to show how much He loves His people. I do not grow weary in serving because I know that my God is greater than any obstacles in this world. This thought has been the strength of my dear Teacher, Ms. Mendez, when she taught her dear students in the preschool."

Maybe you can't save the world...

But you can change at least one child's life forever.

Wingate service 2011
Put a Smile of the Face of a Wingate Resident -
February 17th
Our ministry at Wingate is a very meaningful one for both the residents and the volunteers. Once a month PCiS provides the only Protestant worship service offered at Wingate. There are several Protestant residents representing quite a variety of denominations, and the smiles on their faces when they leave the service are worth every moment of volunteer time. We always welcome new volunteers, and this is a great time to start a new volunteer ministry with the church. We gather at 1:00pm at Wingate on the third Sunday of each month, and the service starts at 1:30pm and lasts for 30 minutes. Volunteers give residents wheelchair rides to and from the service, read Scripture, offer the pastoral prayer, and/or serve communion once a quarter. Our next service is next week, February 17th and communion will be served. New volunteers are paired with experienced volunteers until you "learn the ropes."
