AB 2449 Held in Senate Appropriations

AB 2449 (Bocanegra) Adequate Time to Eat: Lunchtime Supports Learning was held in the Senate Appropriations suspense file yesterday. While the bill will not make further progress through the legislature this year, CFPA will continue working with the California Department of Education and other stakeholders to ensure that students have enough time to sit and eat a lunch at school.

This bill received wide support and engagement from many education stakeholders, and made great progress in educating state policymakers about the problem of inadequate time to eat at schools. CFPA looks forward to future policy efforts to ensure that all California students have the time they need to eat at school. Big thanks to all the supporters of this bill.

Reminder: Take the 2015 Policy Development Survey

CFPA is launching its 2015 policy development process by asking for your input! We are conducting an online survey to gather feedback and identify challenges facing Californians with regards to their health, well-being, and access to nutritious, affordable food. The survey results will inform CFPA's internal policy development process and help guide our 2015 policy priorities, which may include legislation, research, or administrative advocacy, among other strategies.

The survey should take about 15-20 minutes of your time. The survey questions are organized by topic area so you can easily provide feedback only on the topics most relevant to your experience and work. Your answers will be kept anonymous, unless you provide contact information for additional follow-up.

We will be collecting responses until 5pm on Friday, August 29. All respondents will automatically be entered into a drawing to win a $100 gift card.
