18th Annual Maine Tax Forum 

HOST:  SCORE MAINE is hosting the 18th Annual Maine Tax Forum, previously organized and hosted by Maine Revenue Services and SCORE last year. SCORE is committed to delivering the same high-quality program that participants have grown accustomed to for the past seventeen years.  SCORE Maine also hosts the Maine Tax Practitioner Institute. 

WHEN & WHERE:  This two-day forum will be held on Wednesday, November 5 and Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the Augusta Civic Center. Adequate seating for the 2014 Maine Tax Forum will be available by using rectangular tables in the Auditorium only.

FEE:  $95 for each registrant per day or $170 for the two-day session.  The fee includes tuition, refreshments, a full lunch and CE certificates.  Payments are non refundable after November 1, 2014.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS:

• CPE and CLE credits are available.  The number of approved credits is in process of being determined.

• CPAs - The Maine Board of Accountancy does not pre-approve Continuing Education credits. Historically, the Maine Tax Forum sessions have been recognized; 16 sessions are offered this year.   Click here to review the Board of Accountancy rules.   

• ATTORNEYS – The Maine Overseers of the Bar Continuing Education Application for CLE, has been approved for 2014 at 13.34 total credits, including 1.67 Ethics credits.

• ENROLLED AGENTS AND TAX PREPARERS – The Maine Tax Forum is an IRS approved Continuing Education Provider.  The IRS has approved 2 credits for Ethics, 5 credits for Federal Tax Law and 5 credits for Federal Tax Updates.  On July 1, 2014, the IRS launched the new Annual Filing Season Program, ("AFSP"). This voluntary program applies to non-exempt tax preparers only.  When all requirements are met with regard to AFSP, a Record of Completion will be issued to the tax return preparer by the IRS.  The requirements for 2014 include a prorated amount of approved continuing education for non-exempt & non-credentialed preparers.
