RANCHO MIRAGE PUBLIC LIBRARY LAUNCHES

"WALK WITH THE STARS"

RANCHO MIRAGE, CA (June 11, 2014) - The Rancho Mirage Public Library is launching "WALK WITH THE STARS," a new summer-long indoor walking program. Starting on June, 16th from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, the Library's air conditioned community room will be converted into a gym for folks who enjoy walking but are unable or unwilling to do so outdoors in the summer heat. Rancho Mirage Mayor Iris Smotrich stated, "On many days, walkers will be joined by local celebrities and often by City Council Members. WALKING WITH THE STARS will be an enjoyable way to get some exercise while getting to know some of our local celebrities and community leaders."

The Library's Community Room will be arranged with a walking lap around the room's perimeter. Rancho Mirage Public Library Director, David Bryant said, "At a very average pace walkers can easily master a twenty-five lap mile all in the comfort of the air conditioned Library". Everyone is welcome, including folks with disabilities and caregivers. The "WALK WITH THE STARS" program will continue through the summer until September 26th.

The Rancho Mirage Public Library is located at 71-100 Highway 111 in Rancho Mirage. Additional information about this program is available at: www.RanchoMirageLibrary.org or by calling (760) 341-7323.
