Up Here the Longest Day is Really Long!
alaskaProud to be with the Associated General Contractors of America helping to lead their Executive Leadership Conference - a great group of people. We are in Anchorage, Alaska, and gorgeous country surrounds us.

It so happens that it is also the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. In Alaska the sun never sets! Take a look at the graphic on the right and you can see that Alaska never enters the shaded (night time) part of the Earth as it spins on this particular day.

If sunlight is a cure for the doldrums then this is a place to be cheered up all around the clock. And of course the inverse is true during the winter solstice, when Alaska is permanently in the shaded region.

If you walked outside at 11pm or 3am last Saturday night, it pretty much looked like the photo below. Perpetual sunshine! The grass is green and the flowers are blossoming though there is only about 2 months of relative warmth ahead before the 8-month long cold begins to set in once again.

Anchorage

What would you do if you had an eternal day?

I decided to fly through the air and live in the sunlight and enjoy life as much as I could.
