Red-White-Navy  Summer Basics!  We've pulled together some wonderful fabrications in these classic summer colors and then we added more go-togethers in complementary prints and solids. We know you'll have fun combining fabrics as you create a casual wardrobe for the next three months.

textured cotton jacketing

We grabbed this beauty last winter when it was first shown to us. We knew our customers would love the textural cotton jacketing. The raised bars are created with couched yarns of scarlet (slightly warm) red and white on a novelty navy and white base. Vertical repeat: 3.25 in. Perfect for jackets from tailored to unconstructed. Imported for Milly.

stretch cotton satin

We recently found a fabulous cotton satin and we've sampled the white in this mailer. Substantial in weight without being too heavy, it provides opaqueness for the wearer-a quality most look for in a bottom weight fabric. This finely woven cotton/stretch is perfect for summer pants, crops, shorts, skirts or jackets. Imported for Theory.
viscose jersey print

Soft and drapey, this viscose jersey knit will work beautifully for a drape front top or a softly styled dress. The slub knit has a bit of texture to add to the depth of the fully saturated colors. Some of us saw o's rolling along linear tracks, but others saw red dots and concave squares on a red or white ground. Either way, this is a stunning print that will dress up your wardrobe for day or casual evening wear. Viscose/Elastane imported for Milly

         Available in Navy/Red and White/Navy
Sancho Bay in red
organic cotton jersey

If you love cotton jersey knit, this offering will make a lot of sense to you. Produced using organic cotton yarns, it was originally milled for Theory. The traditional navy blue or cardinal red are staples for your wardrobe and will team nicely with a wide variety of other basics and prints. If you prefer a top that fits looser than a nylon or rayon spandex, consider using the cottons for softness and less body hugging. Extra wide: 66 in.  Also available in navy
Mollie
cotton poplin

From our Bistro Fresh and perky, this two tone red on white print is perfect for skirts, skorts, shirts or dresses. Cotton poplin with a bit of stretch is comfortable and wearable for summer fun.
Celine
cotton jacquard

This delicately woven paisley jacquard is stunning and practical. No dry-cleaning needed for a lovely dress or suit in classic navy blue. The hand is slightly crisp which will help the fabric tailor well for structured garments. 100% cotton. 60 in
Red Paint Denim
cotton stretch denim

If you've been eyeing Italian fashion, you'll know that red pants are trending for men and women. Take a cue from our European friends and work this color into your wardrobe for spring/summer/fall and winter! Lightweight denim is a great choice for skirts, pants, skorts, shorts, jackets. Cotton/Spandex. 58 in

Sew Along
 with Maryjo
with insights from Jennifer Stern

This week's excerpts from Maryjo:

Just a reminder, if you are desiring to finish the edges of your pockets with a serger or zigzag stitch, be sure to do it when you put your pockets in.
I discovered that I would get a sturdier pocket bag by first sewing the bottom seamline in a tight, straight stitch (2.0) and then serging the unfinished edges of the seam allowance.

Here is a photo to demonstrate this process:

Let's see what you have been sewing!

Email me a picture of your sewing project and I will post it in an upcoming newsletter!
Next, if you have decided that you would like to use a hong-kong finish on the edges of your zipper plackets, then the time to do that is before you get the zipper installed.
On the jeans placket, the finish looks like this.
Click the link to the hong kong finish tutorial I prepared for the 1,2,3 Season Jacket Sew Along.

You may want to think ahead and edge finish the lower edge of the inside waistband facing (in your contrasting fabric) with a Hong Kong edge, too!
I chose to make a very narrow HK edge. It looks like this.

Hello - This is Vogue 1036 made with the Ooh-la-la Denim in Saffron, which I notice has sold out now.  Great denim and I could kick myself for not grabbing it in the Salmon too.
(I had worn it this day so the sleeves are nicely crinkled.  LOL)

It's a great match-up of pattern to fabric. We love the pocket treatment too!

We still have Ooh-La-La denim  in olive, teal and wintergreen, and we just got in the Red Paint denim above!

Thanks for sharing, Patty, and keep 'em coming!
