Who knew team training could be so fun?! Throughout our 15 years in the visual merchandising business, we've conducted periodic training sessions for our team of Gurus to ensure that we are all up-to-date with trends and merchandising skills. Our most recent session was held at Ray Lavoie's Photography Studio in Columbus, Ohio, and we're thrilled to report that our team is armed and ready for the busy season ahead.

Ameliorate: To leave something better than you found it. Every year we participate in Earth Day activities because we believe in the importance of leaving this Earth cleaner than we found it. It may seem like a daunting task, but every little thing helps. This year we focused on removing garbage and gardening in Columbus' Short North.
|
|
Nikos Rutkowski is a Visual Merchandiser and Creative Hand at ZenGenius. He has been with us for 1 year, and we're proud to have him as part of our team.
 My inspiration: I draw inspiration from everywhere. As an artist with very disparate practices (abstract fine artist, special effects sculptor, designer) I find it helpful to always be looking with a keen eye. My favorite trick when I'm looking for inspiration is to go to the library, grab a stack of art, architecture and design books at random and quickly look through them. By the last book in the pile I usually have a good creative direction to head in.
My favorite part about working with ZG:
My favorite thing about working for ZenGenius is the variety of projects that I get to work on. From creating fixtures from found objects, making chandeliers from eyeglass frames, to helping with floorsets at Victoria's Secret flagship store, and setting up for events like the New Albany Classic and The Columbus Marathon. Working for ZenGenius has made me much more adaptable to ever changing creative scenarios.
A favorite project/experience:
I think one of my favorite experiences was working on the Value City Furniture holiday photo-shoot. There were a lot of long, hard hours, but I really got to work closely with the ZenGenius team and it gave me a chance to get to know everyone. For me, it was sort of a crash course on the range of what we do as visual merchandisers.
A random fun fact about me:
I created a popular arts festival called Urban Scrawl that is heading into its eighth year. It features live music, local vendors and artists painting murals live!

Recently, we partnered with Nationwide's Event Planning Specialist, Patrick Carmichael, along with Bartha Audio Visual and Cameron Mitchell Catering to facilitate a spectacular and dramatic affair at the airplane hanger of Landmark Aviation of Columbus. Our creative directors thoroughly enjoyed providing concepts for the decor, florals and extra special touches that helped to create the perfect storyline. Having partnered with Patrick before, we were thrilled to be part of this wonderful event, and we look forward to the next one!     | | Design Expert, Dan Snouffer, and Creative Director, Joe Baer - Pilots for a day. |

An old friend and past client, Chico's, recently reached out to us for both home office and in-store visual merchandising assistance. We also had the pleasure of providing assistance during a new store opening in Mexico City! Needless to say, we were thrilled at this opportunity and very excited to be working with them once again. Our own Molly Haring and the talented Chico's team at a recent
store opening in Mexico City.

We are so honored that the folks at Good Nature have requested our services 5 years in a row for the design and installation of their booth at the annual Natural Foods Expo. Not only do we enjoy assisting them with the design and fabrication of custom elements and the setup of the booth, but we also appreciate being able to work with such great people. This year's booth received a new chandelier treatment and a new color scheme. As you can see, it really stands out among the crowd!    |
