May 24 -- Wildhawk Scramble!
|
Saturday, May 24 is the Wildhawk Scramble, and today (May 16) is the last day to register!! You've put it off long enough ... REGISTER NOW!!
This a fun-for-all 18-hole golf outing for every member of EWGA. Whether you have a 40, 30, 20, 10, 0 handicap or have not yet established a handicap, you are invited! Each 4-person team will have a total handicap that is roughly equal to the other teams. In Scramble, every golfer tees off on each hole, from there you get to pick up your ball and hit again from the spot where your team's best ball landed and so forth. Everyone gets a very nice low score at the end of 18 holes! And, of course, we have team prizes for the lowest total score, the highest total score, and the team that tells the best jokes during Happy Hour on the 19th hole!
(Note: Since we are making up the teams based on handicap numbers, please only request to play with one other player, and we will do the rest to make all the teams as close to equal as possible.

June 7 -- Chapter Championship
|
Really?? You haven't signed up for the Chapter Championship yet?? You do remember that the deadline to sign up is NEXT Wednesday (May 21)???
"It is better to have golfed and lost than never to have golfed at all."
|
The Chapter Championship is on Saturday, June 7th at Bing Maloney, and despite its official sounding name, it is great fun, and everyone who is eligible should play.
The tournament is flighted, so that you will be playing with people who have similar handicaps ... that means that unless your handicap is under 12.0, you won't have to compete against Karen Garcia! If you are concerned that you haven't memorized the "Rules of Golf" yet, your fellow competitors will help you make the right rules decision, and there will be "rules officials" riding around to help if there are any issues or questions. Plus, there will be a rules meeting before golf for you to brush up on the rules!
There will be two winners in each flight: One person will win for the Lowest Score and another will win for the Lowest Net Score (your Net Score is your actual score minus your handicap). So you have 2 chances at winning and joining this crowd from last year!
If the regular stroke play competition worries you (I won't say "scares"), why not put a scramble team together? You need 4 people to make up a team. This way you get support from your 3 teammates, and you get to play scramble (everyone hits a drive, you pick the best shot, and everyone plays from there, and you keep doing that until the ball is in the hole). The team with the lowest score is the winner (there is only one winning team in the scramble) ... last year's winning team will not be competing this year, so everyone has a chance!
Oh ... and there are trophies for the winners ... doesn't that give you incentive to compete???
If you don't want to compete, there will be a group playing just for fun. So you can still enjoy playing 18 holes, and you can attend the BBQ afterwards to hang out with the rest of the group!
As you can see, there is absolutely no reason not to play!
So stop procrastinating ...
I don't want to remind you again ...
register now!!

In addition, Sarah Haas, who represents the 2015 US Senior Open at Del Paso CC, will be there to tell us about the volunteer opportunities at the tournament.
If you have any pictures or memorabilia from "the good old days" that you would like to share at the party, please contact Sunny Mills ([email protected]).
