ALERT: Chapter Name Change

The NCMA Battlefield-Dulles Chapter Executive Council passed a resolution requesting the NCMA Board of Directors to approve a name change of our chapter. It is anticipated the Board will vote on this request at their July meeting.

What's the proposed new name?

After considering several options, the Executive Council chose the NCMA Dulles Corridor Chapter.

Why change the name?

When the chapter was formed, the emphasis was on the NCMA members in the Manassas area of Prince William County. Since then, NCMA's membership demographics in our territory have changed which has directly impacted our chapter's demographics.

How have the demographics changed?

NCMA membership in the "Dulles Corridor," generally known

Our Territory (click to enlarge)

as the area surrounding Route 28 in Fairfax and Loudoun Counties, has surpassed the Manassas area. In fact, 83.5% of NCMA members in our designated territory are in the Dulles Corridor. This includes Centreville, Chantilly, Herndon, and Reston in Fairfax; and Ashburn, Leesburg, and Sterling in Loudoun. Less than 15% are in the Manassas area.

How does this affect me?

There is no direct impact to current chapter members! It is hoped that changing the chapter's name will raise awareness among non-chapter members in our territory that we are here to enhance their professional performance, career, and accomplishments. The name should also help us when new NCMA members select a chapter since "Dulles Corridor" is more recognizable from a geographic standpoint than "Battlefield-Dulles."

If you have any questions about the name change or would further information about our analysis please talk to any of the chapter officers or email us at [email protected]

Spotlight On: Chapter Annual Report and How You Can Help

NCMA requires all chapters to submit an annual report for the Program Year that ends in June. This report is used by the Graalman Committee to evaluate each chapter and determine what level of Graalman award the chapter will receive. Your chapter has consistently earned a Gold Graalman Award which is the highest level possible!

How can you help? Have you led or co-led any activities related to further the contract profession this Program Year (7/1/2013 to 6/30/2014)? If so we would like to know as this is one of the areas the Graalman Committee evaluates. For more information and to submit your information please check out our news submission page on our website. The due date to submit your information is July 15, 2014.
