View from the corner office:

There are definitely signs of spring from the office window.  "Spring green" is showing on the trees and birds serenade us as they busily build new homes around the campus.  One cardinal has vigilantly protected his turf from the bird that "lives" in my car side mirrors resulting in many additional trips to the car wash.

This is a time of energy as we have refreshed our spirits and souls through the reflections of the Lenten season.  As I have purposefully moved about the campus the last few weeks, I have intentionally looked and reflected on "what makes Grace Episcopal Day School" unique and special.  In my career, I have been on many campuses and in many classrooms, sat through an abundance of faculty meetings and professional development activities.  In all of these venues, I have seen excellent teachers focused on students providing them with strong curriculums.  What I have seen different at Grace is a spirit of the presence of God in every aspect of the school.  The day begins with faculty and staff gathering to pray for God's gift of grace just for this day.  The curriculum is as strong as any I have seen with teachers devoted to assuring that academic concepts are covered.  The unique aspect is in the approaches, the creativity and the high expectations that are individualized not only to assure mastery of concepts, but to develop unique individuals that are responsible, self-disciplined, caring and committed to living a Christ centered life.

Easter is my favorite liturgical season.  It is a season of hope and promise.  As I gaze out the window I see that hope and promise racing across the campus in tennis shoes, laughing and sharing in the joys of children growing into independent young adults.

Happy Easter!
