Program Planning for Results
The outcome-focused planning process presented in this workshop recognizes the demands on staff in the direct service sector, and provides a variety of tools and techniques that can be easily implemented on an ongoing basis. It is a process that begins with the end in mind - the meaningful results that you intend to achieve in the lives of your clients, and produces a comprehensive plan on how those results can be produced. The outcome-focused approach is action-oriented, fact-based, and results-driven. The collaborative and participatory nature of the process encourages everyone to become actively engaged in sharing their thoughts and ideas. The tools and techniques of outcome-focused planning provide focus, clarify purpose and direction, identify improvement opportunities, and motivate coordinated action. The planning process can be used in the development of new programs, or as a framework for continuous improvement and innovation when applied to existing programs and services.
Measuring Progress and Success
There is no question that direct service programs want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of their clients. And there is also no question that funding organizations and governmental units want to know the impact of the programs and services into which they have invested time and money. The tool that effectively and efficiently provides such valuable information is program outcome measurement. This session will provide program practitioners with skill-building training in outcome measurement. The participants involved in the training will become familiar with the principles and practices of outcome measurement, and learn to define intended outcomes, specify performance indicators, collect and analyze data, report outcome findings, and use outcome findings to improve performance and communicate value. The outcome measurement topics will be presented using a variety of instructional methods designed for adult learners in a professional development setting.
