How to Protect Yourself From the 'Heartbleed' Bug
A new security bug means that people all across the Web are vulnerable to having their passwords and other sensitive data stolen.
A major new security vulnerability dubbed Heartbleed was disclosed Monday night with severe implications for the entire Web. The bug can scrape a server's memory, where sensitive user data is stored, including private data such as usernames, passwords, and credit card numbers. The bug has affected many popular websites and services - ones you might use every day, like Gmail and Facebook - and could have quietly exposed your sensitive account information from the past two years.

It's an extremely serious issue, affecting some 500,000 servers, according to Netcraft, an Internet research firm. Click here what you can do to make sure your information is protected.

Member Spotlight: Vacation Concierge
As professionals our lives can be business 24/7, but it's important for us to get to know YOU as a person, member and leader in the community. This month, we're featuring Jeff Perry, owner of Vacation Concierge, a local hospitality and management service company representing individually owned long-term vacation rentals.

Can you please tell us a brief history of your business?
Jenna, my wife, and I grew up in the Dana Point & San Juan Capistrano Valley area. As our finances allowed, we made a personal investment into a second property in Dana Point so that we could share our city with people from all over the world who wish to 'Harbor the Good Life' for themselves... even if it's only for a month or two. Because we live so close to our property, we're able to give our guests an expediency in service that most vacation rental owners can't offer. Several of our seasoned snowbirds who stayed the first 6 months of operation praised our quick turnaround of service and that they felt a higher level of comfort ability knowing there was a local point of contact. We thought we could offer this service to guests staying at other vacation rentals in the area for those owners who live out of town. We would come along side and partner with those owners to provide that same level of care for their guests. Within 3 months of making that decision we took on two more vacation rentals within the first year and thus began Vacation Concierge.

Vacation Concierge incorporated in 2008. Over the years we've represented over 30 rentals in the Dana Point, San Clemente, Laguna Niguel, Oceanside, and Lake Arrowhead areas.

Why did you join the Dana Point Chamber of Commerce?
The Dana Point Chamber of Commerce is usually the first source where most visitors, guests, and potentially new residents inquire to find out more information about our beautiful city. It is our desire to give The Chamber options for accommodations to those who are either visiting or possibly looking to permanently reside in our city thereby increasing revenue to all businesses in Dana Point.

In what areas of the Chamber are you involved?
We have made efforts to meet a few of the Chamber members individually but look forward to attending more mixers and social events this year. As a fellow Chamber member, and usually the first point of contact with the thousands of guests each year, we always try to be the first to promote the business and services of other chamber members.

Can you tell us a fun fact about your business that most people wouldn't know?
As part of our service, and as a courtesy for our guests, Vacation Concierge wrote and published a guest guidebook about the local area. 'California's Golden Coast' was written to help enhance a travelers experience with information about where to go & what to do from an insider's perspective in South Orange County. It's listed for sale on Amazon.com or our website.

Do you have any piece of advice for new businesses owners?
Always provide great service! Always put the customer first! Always have a signed contract - Especially between friends and family! and... Join The Chamber of Dana Point!
