RSA Conference Joins the Coalition's Leadership Council

has joined the Coalition's Leadership
Council. In addition to hosting cyber
security conferences throughout the
world, RSA Conference brings together
over 24,000 people and 300 security vendors in San Francisco every year and they have made a strategic decision to add a significant focus on STEM education to their future programming.

STEM Education Coalition

Earlier this week, Rep. Rush Holt (D-NJ) announced that we will not be seeking re-election to his seat in the U. S. House this fall. Holt, who was first elected in 1998, has been an outspoken cham-pion for STEM education during his entire tenure in Congress. The STEM Education Coalition has worked closely with Rep. Holt on many, many issues over the years.

Female Students Start to Show More Interest in Science and Engineering
The Guardian
The number of female students considering university courses in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects has seen a bigger increase over the last seven years than for male students, according to new research. The survey, compiled by Cambridge Occupational Analysts (COA), is based on detailed analysis of answers to 150 questions by around 20,000 sixth formers each year for the last seven years.

How Much Do American Know About Science?
Smithsonian
The idea that the nation faces a crisis in science education has more than hit home: Many Americans think U.S. teens perform even worse on standardized science tests than they actually do. That's according to a new national survey by Smithsonian and the Pew Research Center that also found unusually strong support for boosting math and science instruction in school.
