Flex-Staff Client Satisfaction Survey

At the end of February Flex-Staff e-mailed a Client Satisfaction Survey to our primary contacts at all of the companies that used our services in 2013.

If you received one of our survey e-mails please take the estimated 1-2 minutes to complete it. The feedback we receive from these surveys enables us to fine-tune the services that we provide, and makes Flex-Staff a more valuable partner to our client companies.

Those who complete the survey and provide their contact information will be eligible to win one of two $50 Visa gift cards that Flex-Staff is giving away.

Get Involved!
The staff of Flex-Staff's Appleton office will be participating in the American Cancer Society's "Sole Burner" 5K walk/run to raise money for cancer research.  The event will be held in downtown Appleton on May 10th.

Anyone wishing to join us (or form their own team) is welcome to do so. The cost to register is $25 for adults and $12 for children 12 and under, and every participant receives a Sole Burner t-shirt.

If you are unable to participate, but would like to donate to the American Cancer Society, Flex-Staff will be accepting donations on behalf of the ACS until May 9th.  Flex-Staff will also be matching the donations we receive up to $250!

Fun Facts

Wisconsin hosted the nation's first automobile race in 1878 when the state offered $10,000 to the inventor of a machine that could move from Green Bay to Madison under its own power.

With an average speed of six miles per hour, it took Alexander Gallagher of Oshkosh approximately twenty-two hours to win the race.
Congratulations!

Unpaid Internships and the Law...

Believe it or not, Spring is just around corner.  That means that in just a few months college students will start looking for summer jobs, and many of them will be seeking internships related to their field of study.

Some companies like to utilize the services of unpaid interns, but it is important to be knowledgeable of the laws that govern this sort of arrangement.

The Fair Labor Standards Act's

six-pronged test for legal unpaid internships states that:

  • Interns must not take the place of any regular employee
  • Interns are not necessarily entitled to a job at the end
  • The employer should not derive any immediate advantages from the internship
  • The internship should be a training program similar to an academic setting
  • The internship should primarily benefit the intern
  • Both employer and intern should understand the intern is not entitled to wages
Based on these requirements, an unpaid intern can do little more at your company than observe.  The way to get the most benefit from the services of an intern this summer is to pay them as an employee, and the easiest way to do that is to have Flex-Staff act as the employer of record with our Payroll Service Plus program.  Flex-Staff can assume the employer/employee relationship with a candidate that you have recruited, screened, and selected for a position at your company. Call your local branch office for more information.

Inspirational Quote
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life.  When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.  I wrote down "happy".  They told me I didn't understand the assignment, and I told them they didn't understand life. - John Lennon
