Focus group for sales and service employers

WPH is currently working on a project highlighting sales and service occupations in Hamilton. There is strong growth in these occupations and many advancement opportunities; however, a common perception is that these are 'dead end' jobs.

In mid-February we are hosting a focus group with Hamilton sales and service employers to discuss challenges and opportunities in this occupational sector.

New StatsCan Study: Many older Canadians who leave long-term jobs do not fully retire

By tracking older workers' employment status in the decade after they left their jobs, StatsCan found that more than half of Canadian workers aged 55 to 64 who left their jobs between 1994 and 2000 were re-employed within a decade.

A Toronto immigrant mentoring program is keeping New Canadian professionals out of cabs

The Mentoring Partnership Program is run by the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council (TRIEC) through 12 agencies and 27 corporate partners. Since its creation six years ago, it's arranged 5,300 matches, with the help of more than 3,800 volunteer mentors.
