 Squash and Leek soup

 

Zuppa di Zucca e Porri -  This soup echos of northern Italy in the winter time.  I remember the  copper cauldron hung above the fire filled with bubbling polenta and various cheeses and salami on a well used cutting board.

Sitting down in front of the fireplace, a bowl of this soup was placed on the table. We had just arrived to Brescia, my mother's home town in Lombardy.
