Thank you, Mr. President!  

In last night's State of the Union Address, President Obama proposed legislation that affects all Americans such as expanding access to high-quality preschool, enriching K-12 education, and bringing the long-unemployed back to work.

We applaud the President for his emphasis on Earned Income Tax Credit and  encouraging civic engagement. There were many quotable lines from the President's address, but we were particularly struck by this: "The America we want for our kids - a rising America where honest work is plentiful and communities are strong; where prosperity is widely shared and opportunity for all lets us go as far as our dreams and toil will take us - none of it is easy. But if we work together; if we summon what is best in us, with our feet planted firmly in today but our eyes cast towards tomorrow - I know it's within our reach." Read our response

Alan Hatton-Yeo Retires, Steve Robinson Succeeds him as Foundation's CEO

After 16 years as CEO of the Beth Johnson Foundation in Stoke-on-Trent, England, Alan Hatton-Yeo retired last week. We at Generations United are grateful for the opportunity to have worked along-side Alan for many years and are thrilled that Alan will continue important intergenerational work in his retirement. We also want to join the Beth Johnson Foundation in welcoming Steve Robinson as their new CEO.

Request for Multigenerational Families

A reporter is seeking multi-generational families to interview/survey for potential story in an established national magazine. Potential candidate is a non-traditional family that is struggling economically and is willing to speak briefly on-record about the situation. In return, a financial adviser will assist them. Twenty-two States, Including D.C., Agree to Medicaid Expansion

An huge incentive to expanding Medicaid eligibility is that 100 percent of Medicaid expenses of the expansion population is covered by the federal government, reports Stateline's, the daily news service of The Pew Charitable Trusts. The government will continue paying that cost through the end of 2016. After that, the federal match will eventually taper to 90 percent. Arkansas and Iowa governors are not consenting to the expansion until the federal government allows changes in their Medicaid programs. Read more
