The United Way for Leaders Conference takes place May 12-15 in Washington, DC, and will be attended by over 1,500 community leaders throughout the world. UW is seeking submissions for learning sessions that highlight how people and organizations are working together to create collective impact in the areas of education, income and health. SPOTLIGHT ON INNOVATION

The Bubbler: Participatory Community Learning

Inspired by the maker space movement and strong ties to its arts community, Madison Public Library, WI, created  The Bubbler, a new programming model for all ages. The Bubbler's hands-on pop-up workshops introduce participants to a variety of community experts - artists, designers, craftspeople, technology experts - who share their talents and physical resources.

MEMBER ACHIEVEMENTS

Arapahoe Library District
(ALD), CO, is at the cutting-edge with Google at Google Glass, a wearable computer that displays information in a smartphone-like hands-free format that interacts with the internet via voice commands. The screen is a small cube in the corner of the device, visible only to the wearer, and a tiny microphone puts the sound right behind your ear.
