05/22/13 - "My mom has mild-moderate dementia - more patience when she asks occasionally for relatives who are deceased (don't try to correct her). Easier to go along with it or redirect her."

September Observance
Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month
- This year the Foundation for Women's Cancer is shining the light on uterine cancer with the message that bleeding after menopause could be a sign of uterine cancer. Click here for a toolkit
October Observances
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
National Dental Hygiene Month
- This year's theme, "Keep them healthy. Keep them clean.", stresses the importance of making a dental hygiene routine part of your day to maintain your oral health. Check the American Dental Hygienists Association for more information.
National Depression and Mental Health Screening Month
- National Depression Screening Day is on October 10, 2013 and raises awareness and screens people for depression and related mood and anxiety disorders. More info can be found here.
Domestic Violence (DV) Awareness Month
Please note that there is a GrapeVine Project unit on each of the October observances listed above. Plan ahead to hold a session on one of these topics during October!
