Greetings!

Greetings in this season of Advent! I hope you enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends.

On December 8-9, we will have a special opportunity to thank God for the precious gift of life during the National Night of Prayer for Life, a worldwide vigil from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. with an "Hour of Unity" at 12 a.m. CST. A list of participating parishes may be found here. If your parish is participating but is not listed, please let me know so we can be sure to add your parish event to the calendar.

In addition to this event, please mark your calendars for:

And as we look forward to the new year, we once again need your assistance in promoting the 2014 Roe Memorial Events on January 18, 2014 with Bishop Farrell, with these exciting new changes:

The Roe Memorial Mass will be at 1:00 p.m. at the convention center in Dallas with capacity for 9,000 people!  In years past, we have had to turn people away from the Cathedral sanctuary to sit or stand in extended seating areas, but no more! Everyone will be able to experience the blessings of the Mass celebrated by Bishop Farrell in person

Plus, for the first time, there will be a Youth Rally preceding Mass, beginning at 12:30 p.m., featuring World Youth Day Musician Steve Angrisano. Steve will also be the lead music minister at the Mass, and Father Alfonse Nazzaro will be the homilist. The Dallas March for Life and Rally will directly follow Mass. A complete schedule of events is available here.

We have begun parish distribution of Roe Memorial posters and yard signs, and Bishop Farrell's letter of invitation will be coming soon. Please ensure that your parish includes the bulletin announcement available here, shares Bishop Farrell's letter, and displays the yard signs and posters (flyer version available here) in the weeks preceding January 18.  We are also in urgent need of volunteers to assist at the new, larger venue, particularly Knights of Columbus, parish ushers and police or security officers. Volunteers may sign up here. Please check out www.prolifedallas.org/roe for event details and updates throughout this month.

As we busy ourselves with preparations this month for Christmas and the new year, it is sometimes difficult to stay focused on what we are really preparing for -- the celebration of the coming of Our Lord. Recently I read that God allowed His Son to become a man so that man could become sons of God. This tremendous transformation of mankind began on that cold night in a lowly manger, the night Mary gave birth to our Savior. Let us keep that miraculous moment in mind throughout this season of anticipation, celebration, and spiritual renewal.

May you and your family have a very blessed Advent and Merry Christmas!

Thanks for all you do for Life,

David
