Dear Friend of Animals,

How are you choosing recipients of your holiday giving?

Last week we told you about using the Shelter Save Rate Report to research animal shelters that you might consider supporting with a charitable contribution.

What if you prefer donating to an animal rescue group? Unfortunately, there is no equivalent report for those organizations, since they are not required to submit anything to Michigan Department of Agriculture.

However, most rescue groups have a Guidestar profile which allows you to verify that they are registered as a 501(c)(3) and up-to-date with IRS reporting.

Additionally, there are 13 rescue groups which have been certified by Michigan Pet Fund Alliance as
The groups are committed to following best practices and upholding a code of ethics.  See the list and links to their websites here

A new grant program established by MPFA assists Michigan Certified Rescues with rescuing sick, injured, elderly, and hard-to-adopt animals from shelters. Your holiday donation to the Judith Middleton Kroon Life Saving Program will go directly to a rescue group to save an animal who otherwise might lose its life at a shelter.

In order to continue our work toward making Michigan a No Kill state for healthy and treatable dogs and cats, we ask that you put Michigan Pet Fund Alliance on your year-end giving list.

Donate securely online, or mail your donation using this printable form. Indicate "Judith Middleton Kroon" in the memorial field, or leave blank for MPFA to utilize your donation in other ways.
